On April 18-19, 2024, the 2024 TA Conference was successfully held in Xiamen. During the main forum, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and Mongolian telecom company Mobicom signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two sides reached a cooperation intention on the construction, promotion, and application of the ASTRON Supernode in Mongolia. Jin Jian, Director of the Institute for Industrial Internet and Internet of Things (IIIIoT) of CAICT, and Kurushima Koji, CEO of Mobicom, represented their respective organizations to sign the agreement.

This cooperation signifies that the two sides will launch in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the development and application landing of blockchain technology, jointly help the scale development of Mongolia’s blockchain industry, and provide strong technical support and solutions for the digital transformation of Mongolia and the world. As a subsidiary of Japan’s KDDI Group, Mobicom is an advanced Mongolian telecom and IT company with strong infrastructure construction capabilities, user ecosystem, and blockchain technology ecosystem, playing an important role in Mongolia’s digital transformation.

Since the initiation of ASTRON, international supernodes have been established in many countries and regions, including Malaysia and Macau (China); meanwhile, other outward-oriented supernodes have been built in cities like Xiamen and Liuzhou, providing high-quality internationalized services for global users.

In the future, the CAICT and Mobicom will fully combine their respective advantages to focus on the domains of cross-border trade, data security, and cross-border data circulation between China and Mongolia, achieve more practical outcomes in supply chain, carbon neutrality, consumption, and financial scenarios, etc., work together to promote the localized construction and operation of ASTRON in Mongolia, further expand its influence, and radiate to more overseas countries and regions, thereby advancing the globalization of the ASTRON cross-border data service network steadily and resolutely.

About Xinghuo BIF

Under the guidance and support of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and to drive the digitalization, networking, intelligence, and green development of industries, the Xinghuo Blockchain Infrastructure & Facility (Xinghuo BIF) is a national blockchain network initiated and constructed by the CAICT. Based on decentralized identifier (DID), digital identity, blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and other technical systems, and to fully release the value of data elements, Xinghuo BIF aims to build the largest and most widely used trusted data network space in China’s industrial Internet field and contribute to the development of new industrialization.

Xinghuo BIF consists of the central consensus network of supernodes and the application interconnected network of backbone nodes, supporting efficient and convenient access for enterprises or any users. Since its official launch in August 2020, Xinghuo BIF has deployed supernodes in more than 12 cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing, Nanjing, Chengdu, Shenyang, Jinan, Xiamen, Suzhou, Liuzhou) and backbone nodes covering more than 60 cities, which has been rapidly deployed and applied in industry scenarios such as digital assets, industrial finance, judicial depository, supply chain and industry chain, green and low-carbon, etc., and thus its industrial ecological value as blockchain infrastructure has been continuously enhanced. In 2023, Xinghuo BIF began to build a multi-party joint operation mechanism composed of many large enterprises and institutions to further promote its scale application and openness.

About ASTRON

Starting from 2021, based on the Xinghuo BIF, the CAICT initiated ASTRON as its overseas extension, aiming to establish it as the global cross-border data service network for the whole world. Relying on international cooperation mechanisms such as G20, BRICS, SCO, China-ASEAN, and BRI. ASTRON can give full play to the business characteristics of the node regions through the constructed international supernodes (Malaysia and Macau), supernodes (Xiamen and Liuzhou), as well as backbone nodes (Jiaozhou in Shandong Province, and Hengqin in Guangdong Province) and empower cross-border digital trade and cross-border data flow, providing international services for ASEAN countries, BRICS countries, SCO member states, etc. Moreover, ASTRON has already cooperated with Siemens, SAP, Panasonic, and other large multinational enterprises in the blockchain business, joining hands to further advance the globalization of blockchain innovation and application.
